Independent Study

The Spring 2025 Semester will run from Monday March 31 through Sunday June 22, 2025.

We are introducing a new program called Independent Studies! These are 6 week, private studies with a teacher for students looking to further develop and refine their practice. Students are expected to come with projects, and the teacher will help the student create a plan for the session, identify goals, hone techniques, share skills, advise, and critique students' work. This is a great opportunity for intermediate students to take their work to the next level. Students must have received at least 1 year of instruction, or equivalent experience, under your belt to register for an independent study.

This Spring, we are offering one independent study with Tiffany Saw. Tiffany Saw is a masterful wheel thrower who could help a student further their techniques and learn surface design skills such as traditional Chinese carving.

The program includes 6 private lessons with your teacher and the ability to make work, fire, and store work on a shelf at the studio for 2 months. Tiff's private lesson time is Sundays from 1:30-3:30pm -- the exact dates will be decided upon after purchase. Students will also learn how to glaze at our studio and have access to our studio's cone 10 gas and cone 6 electric firings, equipment, glazes, 5 clay bodies, etc. The normal cost of 6 private lessons ($175 per lesson) plus studio access for 2 months ($255/month) would be $1560, but we are offering this program at a discounted rate for $1200. Students get to store their work on a class shelf downstairs.
