About the studio

Gasworks NYC is a community clay studio, offering studio memberships and ceramics education to Brooklyn and beyond since 2016. 

Gasworks NYC's mission is to provide a communal clay studio that fosters play, creativity and community. We endeavor to provide high-quality ceramics education through a supportive environment of experienced instructors and staff, a diverse and inclusive community, a well-equipped studio, and a fierce dedication to play and having fun. Gasworks NYC is committed to nurturing the practice of hobbyists and ceramicists of all levels, backgrounds, and ages through classes, workshops, online gatherings, and studio memberships.

Gasworks NYC is dedicated to making the ceramic arts accessible to the local community, and we have always provided subsidized and free classes to people of marginalized identities. In 2019, community leaders at Gasworks NYC established Public Ceramics, a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to offering ceramics fellowships to those who have been historically underrepresented in American studios. Public Ceramics aims to build and support a thriving community of ceramicists of color who feel connected to one another and the broader ceramics community.
