Clay For The People (Online)

The Spring 2025 Semester will run from Monday March 31 through Sunday June 22, 2025.

Wednesdays, 7-9pm on Zoom. This is a class for black and brown folks in our community, taught by Tig Tucker. Classes meet online every Wednesday 7-9pm and run for 12 weeks. This is a class to get comfortable with clay taught by Tiana Tucker. Students will learn basic hand-building techniques and how to glaze/finish their work. For the purposes of this class, we are prioritizing people of African, Latin, Pacific Island, Middle Eastern or Native American descent, historically underrepresented groups in many American studios. This class is via zoom and also includes open studio time at the studio. Participation in orientations for new students is mandatory.

This class is Sliding Scale. Please refer to this page to help you determine what stream to pay for. The prices are: $55 (Seeding), $300 (Sustaining), $600 (Generating). If you want to purchase this class at the Seeding rate or at the Generating rate, select the corresponding add-on at checkout (underneath the attendee information section).

Class meets once a week for 12 weeks on Zoom. Students have access to clay, glaze and open studio time every day from 6 am - 10 pm. Firing fees are 3 cents per cubic inch. Open studio time must be scheduled. Tool kits can be purchased on the first day. Zoom classes do not come with greenware storage in the studio (i.e. unfired work) – it does come with communal bisqued and glazed work storage.
