This class is designed for the potter/ceramicist who has always wanted to learn all the skills of a studio technician. If you want to know how to mix glazes, load kilns, program kilns, reclaim clay, make wedging boards from plaster, etc, this class is for you. This will be a six-week class with a max class size of six students. It will be hands-on so be prepared to get your hands dirty. This class will be taught by Paul Distelzweig and Tiffany Saw. This class does not come with studio access except to make glaze tests.  Here's the curriculum for the six-week class:

Week 1: Reclaiming clay, plaster wedging board making and clay capturing

Week 2: How to make a glaze – measuring, mixing, sieving, measuring specific gravity and viscosity

Week 3: Anatomy of a glaze, testing, and glaze labs

Week 4: How to load an electric kiln for bisque and cone 6

Week 5: Kiln maintenance, diagnostics, error codes, troubleshooting, replacing thermocouples, replacing relays, and replacing elements.

Week 6: How to load a gas kiln, firing, cones and cone packs
