Clay for the People (online)
April 5-June 21, Wednesdays 7-9p (Tiana Tucker)
This is a class for black and brown folks in our community. Classes meet online every Wednesday 7-9pm and run for 12 weeks. This is a class to get comfortable with clay taught by Tiana Tucker. Students will learn basic hand-building techniques and how to glaze/finish their work. For the purposes of this class, we are prioritizing people of African, Latin, Pacific Island, Middle Eastern or Native American descent, historically underrepresented groups in many American studios. This class is via zoom but includes open studio time at the studio. Participation in orientations for new students is mandatory.
Students have access to clay, glaze and open studio time is available every day from 6 am - 10 pm. Firing fees are 3 cents a cubic inch. Open studio time must be scheduled due to the pandemic. Tool kits can be purchased on the first day. Zoom classes do not come with greenware storage in the studio (i.e. unfired work) – it does come with communal bisqued and glazed work storage.
