This series of workshops will bring together the talents and perspectives of 12 women working in clay from around the world. Each week a different instructor will demo one of their special skills or favorite techniques online via zoom. Price is for all 12 workshops. Here's the line up:
Week 1: Ling Chun will demonstrate faux kintsugi or how to use clay debris and epoxy to bring new life to forms.
Week 2: Melissa Weiss will demonstrate slab and coil built planters/bean pots with a focus on handles and feet
Week 3: Taty Hernandez will discuss connecting with ancestors through clay, and coil-building techniques.
Week 5: Djakou Kassi Nathalie will demonstrate how she hand-builds and carves. If there is time, she will discuss casting to carve.
Week 6: Shino Takeda will demonstrate hand building and surface techniques with slip, underglaze, and carving.
week 7: Sarah Hussaini will demonstrate throwing coils on the wheel and surface decoration with tape, slip, and glaze
week 8: Michelle Ettrick will demonstrate how she hand-builds a mug from start to finish and techniques she uses to draw on clay.
Week 9: Lynne Hobaica will demonstrate how to make animal pots- turning pinch pots into critter shaped jars
Week 10: Candice Methe will demonstrate how she makes round bottom ewers with a special focus on handles and spouts.
Week 11: Jamie will demonstrate how she creates her mouth bowls starting with a pinched form and sculpting mouths into the surface of the forms. Glazing and firing will be discussed as well.
Week 12: Maggie Boyd will demonstrate her many ways of making marks and how she uses majolica in her work.
