This series of workshops will bring together the talents and perspectives of 13 women working in clay from around the country. Each week a different instructor will demo one of their special skills or favorite techniques online via zoom. Price is for all 13 workshops. Here's the line up:
Week 1: Maggie Boyd will demonstrate working with majolica and making marks
Week 2: Jen Allen with demonstrate using handmade stamps, cup making and how she makes handles
Week 3: Linda Hsiao will demonstrate porcelain inlay techniques and, if time, scultping slabs..
Week 4: Dina Nur Satti from Nur Ceramics will discuss the the spiritual and communal essence of pottery and building asymmetrical vases
Week 5: Melissa Weiss will demonstrate kurikuki cups and surface design
Week 6: Amanda Salov will discuss pigment gradients and paperclay
Week 7: Margaret Kinkeade will demonstrate how she makes her mugs using handbuilding techniques and mishima
week 8: Michelle Ettrick will demonstrate handbuilding techniques and how she draws on clay.
week 9: Nala Turner from Carlynne Ceramics will discuss resilience of the black body in relation to power and the ancestral, and finding safety
Week 10: Candice Methe will demonstrate how she makes teapots
Week 11: Shino Takeda will demonstrate how she makes vases and the very special way she approaches surface design and texture.
Week 12: Kukuli Velarde will discuss patrimony and cultural identity, developing a body of work in a pluriversal world.
Week 13: Laura Casas will discuss the importance of sketching in her work, then she will demonstrate her handbuilding and surface techniques.
