Sundays, May 17-June 28, 1-3pm
This series of workshops will bring together the talents and perspectives of 7 women working in clay. Each week a different instructor will demo one of their special skills or favorite techniques. Price is for all seven workshops. Here's the line up:
Week 1: Maggie Boyd will demonstrate her many ways of making marks and how she uses majolica in her work.
week 2: Lynne Hobaica will demonstrate making plates from slabs and coils and one of her favorite surface techniques: sgraffito.
week 3: Melissa Weiss will demonstrate making a vase from a 2 part mold and her underglaze/wax resist surface treatment.
week 4: Ling Chun will demonstrate faux kintsugi or how to use clay debris and epoxy to bring new life to forms.
week 5: Candice Methe will discuss terra sig, what it is, how to make it, trouble shooting and application. She will then demonstrate how to pinch and coil and carve a fruit bowl.
week 6: Jamie will demonstrate how to sculpt a self portrait mask from start to finish using a newspaper hump mold and traditional figurative sculpting techniques.
week 7: Shino Takeda will demonstrate her hand building techniques and she paints her pieces at different stages.
