October 19 & 20, 10 a - 5p
Workshop Description: In this weekend workshop, you will learn how to take pottery to the next level by focusing on surface design. Learn how to carve, etch and stencil patterns, images and textures onto your pottery. Participants will learn Sgraffito, Mishima (Underglaze/Slip Inlay) Stamping, monoprinting as well as water etching. This workshop is designed for Cone 6 oxidation firings (we can experiment with cone 10 reduction) and caters to students who are at an intermediate/advanced level but beginners are welcome. Students will need to bring GREEN pots to the workshop as we will do most of the decorating before the bisque state. Bring green pots that are cone 6 clay and above. Also, studio will provide some green cylinders as well.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Because of the short nature of this workshop, it would be ideal for students must come with 5 - 10 already thrown and trimmed wares, preferably trimmed 1-3 days before the class and covered under plastic so as to be in stage of leather hard. I would also like to have time to make slabs on Friday before the workshop for students who werent able to have pieces trimmed in time.
